Refunds-Card Present Terminal

Refund via Card Present can be made by selecting Card Present in the Transaction Category Type drop-down on the Refund A Payment screen.

Note

Original Payment Method refund can only be applicable for Card Present transactions if the payments are made via Sale. If the Original Payment is an Pre-Auth then the default refund method would be Standalone Credit Refund.

Original Payment Method Refund

When the user wants to make a Original Payment Method Refund via Card Present, then after selecting the Card Present Terminal in the Transaction Category drop-down the screen looks as follows and contains the following elements:

Refund Via POS

  1. Payment Details — Section which displays the payment details.
  2. Customer Information — Section which displays the Customer details.
  3. Refund Information — Section with the details of the Refund i.e., Refund Method. Terminal Type etc.
  4. Terminal — Drop-down to select a device/terminal from the available Card Present terminals with Refresh button, used to refresh the screen if the user's device is not found
  5. Terminal Entry Mode — drop-down which displays with the related modes of the selected Terminal with Clear Payee Information button, which the user can use if he/she wants to remove the card details for some reason/failed payment etc.

Once the user selects the POS Terminal and the Mode of Refund then the user is prompted to swipe/insert a card

The user has to swipe/insert the card after the prompt.

Note

For Original Payment Method Refund the same card which is used for Payment should be used to swipe for the Refund.

The card data is read and gets displays in the related fields of Payment Information section being disabled.

The user has to enter a valid Zip code in the Zip/Postal Code field to get the Review button enabled.

The user can also select the checkbox to accept terms and conditions for the refund and can draw electronic signature in the Signature box, if signed will be reflected in the Refund receipt print as well. However, selecting the checkbox and entering a signature is optional.

Clicking on Review button would take the user to the Review Refund screen being disabled and the user can review the Refund details.

Clicking on the Confirm button will navigate the user to the Refund Confirmation screen with the details of the Reund.

Standalone Credit Refund via Card Present

Making Refunds with Standalone Credit is almost similar to Original Payment Method except that the user has to select Standalone Credit Refund in the Refund Method drop-down.
